Jessica Chastain

JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain was born on March 24, 1977. She is an American producer, actress and model. Her films that are centered around feminist issues are her primary focus. She has received numerous honors including an Academy Award as well as a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine listed her as one of the top 100 influential people worldwide in 2012. Chastain started acting from a young age. In 1998, she made her debut on stage as Shakespeare's Juliet. She studied acting at Juilliard School and was then contracted to a talent holding deal with John Wells, a television producer. She was a recurring guest star in several television shows and played roles in several stage productions. Chastain made her film debut in Jolene (2008) aged 31. She continued to make six films in the year 2011 which included The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). She earned Academy Award nominations for playing an aspiring socialite in period drama The Help (2011) and as a CIA analyst in the suspense thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) were commercially more successful. Chastain was also praised for playing strong-willed women in the dramas A Most Violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016) and Molly's Game (2017), as well as the mini-series on television Scenes from a Marriage (2021). She was later cast as Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021), winning the Academy Award for Best Actress and Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain created Freckle Films to promote diversity in film production. She is also an investor in Angel City FC. She is vocal about mental health issues as the issue of gender and race equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her husband.
