In 1997, she started acting when she was 13 years old. Following a series of classes, and working as a background actor on Canadian shows like Road to Avonlea and Harriet the Spy In 1997, she landed her first part in a spoken role the Canadian kids' horror anthology Goosebumps and Are you afraid of the Dark?, both series that aired on YTV. There were commercials too as also guest-starring in movies like Mutant X and Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story. Goosebumps was also element of her work. Two years later, Vandervoort was in her debut film, a feature titled The Lookout alongside Jeff Daniels, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Matthew Goode and Isla Fisher. Vandervoort's television career began with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Her next project was the role as Clark Kent's Kryptonian cousin "Kara Kent", (the woman who will later become Supergirl) and appeared in The CW serial-drama program Smallville. In season two, she was a regular on the show in season seven and was in"Bloodline," season eight's "Bloodline" episode for season eight. The show returned to Smallville for two episodes in the finale season that was her tenth. In the aftermath of The CW, Vandervoort shot the sequel of the film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2 : The Reef. Then, she shot an independently produced film titled The Jazzman, which also featured Canadian actors Michael Ironside (who appeared in the second V miniseries as well as in the 1984 V regular series) and Corey Sevier Kristen Kristen Kristen Kristen Kristen Kristen
