Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It became the number one streamed music at that period within the space of six months. The single Despacito, which combines reggaeton and pop, not only brought new focus to reggaeton, but also brought more attention to Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs mainly in Spanish in 2016, compared to just two songs in 2015. The popularity of Despacito peaked in 2017. In 2020 the year 2020, 41 mainly Spanish songs will make the Top 100. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix to Despacito (2017) popular artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna together with Maluma in Medellin (2019). The year 2000 saw a number of reggaeton artists were expressing displeasure at the genre's direction toward the mainstream. However, a younger generation of performers, including Rauw Alejandro, sought to keep reggaeton evolving. The genre often included elements of electronic dance music as well as other forms.
